PERIMENOPAUSE

What Happens During Perimenopause?

Published August 22, 2026 • Educational guide

Perimenopause is the transition leading up to menopause. Hormone patterns can change during this time, and periods and symptoms may become less predictable.

What can change?

Some people notice changes in menstrual timing or flow, hot flashes, night sweats, sleep changes, mood changes or vaginal symptoms. Experiences vary widely, and not everyone has the same combination of symptoms.

When should you talk with a healthcare professional?

Consider discussing new, persistent or disruptive symptoms with a qualified healthcare professional. They can consider your history, symptoms and other possible explanations and help you understand available options.
